Take a Colorado mini vacation! Our standard one-night getaway with horseback riding includes a 90-minute lesson for two people. Weather permitting, we split time between a lesson indoors and a trail ride up the mountain behind Anchorage Farm. You will receive an introductory riding lesson for two including catching, leading, grooming, tacking and mounting the horse, and using your aids -- hands, legs, seat -- to guide and influence the horse. You will learn to make the horse go straight, turn him, move him away with your leg, ride in circles and stop the horse -- all with a snaffle bit and minimal aids. Even those who consider themselves experienced riders say they are fascinated with Jim's introductory riding lessons. 

The short trail ride for our guests (generally offered May-October) is something nearly everyone raves about. We ride through the woods and up to an overlook. Depending upon the season, one can enjoy a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees and wildlife -- elk being one of our most frequent companions. Views include portions of both the Mt. Evans and Lost Creek wilderness areas.
